Earlier this month, the editors at No Film School conducted a challenge, pitting their own screenwriting abilities against AI with a simple objective: who can write the more compelling first 10 pages of a feature film when judged by regular people.
No Film School is a well-known resource among filmmakers, offering tips, industry news, and insights into the evolving world of film production.
After completing the AI vs Human screenwriter challenge and publishing both works on X, the results of the poll were very close, with under a 1% difference in 2 out of 3 categories and only a 4% difference in the third.
Something important to clarify is that the screenplay written by the AI algorithm was not actually written by the combination of ChatGPT and Claude 3.5. These tools were used by the editors to brainstorm and pre-write the pages, which were later edited and compiled into a script by real people.
